Hikari Stays is currently in the founding and development stage. We are not yet accepting bookings. We are building the right local partnerships, property pipeline, operating model, and guest standards before launch.

光 — The Vision
Connecting two realities with care, restraint, and respect.

Japan's countryside holds extraordinary beauty, architecture, and community history. Many rural homes sit vacant, while many travelers are looking for a slower and more meaningful way to experience Japan. Hikari Stays is being built to connect those two realities with care, restraint, and respect.

Not Just Places to Stay

These future homes are not intended to become anonymous vacation rentals.

Each stay will be designed around local guidance, guest education, community respect, and careful property stewardship. We are not building a platform for consumption. We are building a model for understanding.

"These will not be anonymous vacation rentals. They will be restored homes in living communities."

What We Are Building

—A planned portfolio of carefully selected restored rural homes
—A vetted guest request process
—Property-specific digital guidebooks
—Local caretaker and maintenance systems
—Cultural orientation for guests
—Responsible hospitality operations
—A partner-led model built with Japan-based expertise
光 — Our Positioning

Thoughtfully Restored Countryside Homes, Designed for a Deeper Stay.

Hikari Stays offers private countryside home stays in beautifully restored rural Japanese homes. Each stay is designed for travelers who want more than a place to sleep. Our homes offer privacy, comfort, cultural depth, and a quieter connection to Japan's villages, landscapes, and local traditions.

This is not budget lodging or a crowded vacation rental model. It is a curated stay experience with transparent pricing, thoughtful guest standards, and optional locally hosted services that help each visit feel personal, respectful, and memorable.

"Not budget lodging. Not luxury for luxury's sake. Thoughtfully restored Japanese countryside homes with transparent pricing, cultural depth, and a stay experience designed around comfort, privacy, and place."

Transparent Stay Pricing

Clear, honest, property-specific pricing.

Hikari Stays is built around clear, thoughtful pricing. Our goal is to offer the privacy and character of a restored Japanese countryside home with the comfort and reliability travelers expect from a quality boutique stay — without artificially low pricing that later depends on stacked fees.

Nightly pricing is property-specific, generally comparable to a quality hotel stay, and adjusted by home, region, season, length of stay, and included services.

Local Experiences, Hosted by the Community

A stay should benefit more than the guest.

Where available, we work with local residents, guides, cooks, artisans, housekeepers, drivers, and cultural hosts to create optional experiences that connect visitors with the surrounding village in a respectful way. These services allow guests to enjoy a deeper local experience while helping the community participate economically in each stay.

Designed for Privacy, Not Crowding

Each home has a firm capacity based on comfort.

Each Hikari home has a firm guest capacity based on comfort, safety, bedding, plumbing, septic limits, property size, and respect for the surrounding community. We do not encourage overcrowded stays or extra unregistered guests.

If a home is designed for four guests, it is generally limited to four guests. Limited exceptions may be considered for young children using an approved crib, futon, or child sleeping arrangement. This allows each stay to remain calm, comfortable, safe, and respectful of the home and village.

Our Guest Standards

Our homes are designed for thoughtful guests who value privacy, culture, comfort, and respect for the surrounding community. Guests are expected to treat the home, neighbors, village, and surrounding environment with care.

—Respect for neighbors and quiet hours
—Careful use of traditional home features
—Adherence to local waste sorting rules
—No unregistered additional guests
—Respect for the surrounding village and community

Future stays will include a guest review process — not to be exclusive, but to ensure that every person who stays in one of these homes understands and respects what they are entering.

Built Around Trust

Three relationships. One foundation.

Trust with Communities

Rural Japanese villages are not tourist attractions. They are living communities with their own rhythms, relationships, and expectations. We will work with — not around — local residents, landowners, and community leaders. Every property decision will be made with community consent and benefit in mind.

Trust with Guests

We will not accept every booking request. Future stays will require a guest review process — not to be exclusive, but to ensure that every person who stays in one of these homes understands and respects what they are entering. These are not hotel rooms. They are someone's heritage.

Trust with Partners

This model cannot be built from the outside. It requires Japan-based partners who understand the land, the culture, the regulations, and the communities. We are looking for founding partners who share our values — not just our commercial ambitions.
